To commemorate International Book Day and foster a lifelong love for reading, BVM Sec-39 organised a week-long celebration with grade-wise literary activities under the theme ‘Books: A Window to the World’.
The little readers of Classes I & II participated in a creative Bookmark Making Activity and enjoyed Story Reading Sessions from colourful picture books. The activity aimed at developing early reading habits and imagination.
Students of Classes III to V undertook an educational Visit to the School Library, where the librarian introduced them to different genres, reference books, and the joy of exploring new worlds through pages.
To highlight the transformative power of literature, students of Classes VI to VIII delivered inspiring speeches on ‘The Power of Reading’. Ms. Neetu Dogra, HOD Hindi, addressed the students on ' Pustakein: Jeevan Ka Anmol Khazana', emphasising how books preserve culture, values, and language, and nurture creativity in young minds. Keerat of Class VIII captivated the audience with her speech in English, stating, "Books are not just pages filled with words; they are wings that help us fly beyond boundaries of time and space."
The oratory skills of Class IX students were on display in a Declamation Competition on the topic ‘Importance of Books in Our Life’. The participants eloquently expressed how books are the best companions and mentors.
For senior students of Class XI, an interactive Session with Principal Ms. Upasna Modgil was organised on ‘Education and the Importance of Books’. She shared her own reading journey and motivated students to make books their lifelong friends.
In her message, Principal, Ms Upasna Modgil remarked, “A reader today is a leader tomorrow. Books don’t just give us knowledge, they give us vision.”
Adding vibrancy to the celebration, a Book Fair was also organised on the campus, where students explored and purchased books of their choice across genres.
The celebration concluded with students pledging to ‘Read More, Learn More, Grow More’.
