International Day For Natural Disaster Reduction celebrated at BVM, Sec-39, Chd.Rd, Ldh
Aiming to promote a global culture of risk awareness and disaster reduction, International Day For Natural Disaster Reduction was observed by BVMites with great zeal and zest. Gurleen Kaur of IX delivered a speech highlighting that disasters induced by natural and technological hazards affect millions of people every year world wide but many of their impact can be avoided or prevented if there are disaster risk reduction strategies in place to manage and reduce existing levels of risk and to avoid the creation of new risk.Students of classes IX and X prepared heart touching posters and slogans to spread awareness and encourage citizens and government about disaster reduction and building resilient nations.A PPT was also made by Parkriti, a student of class X with an objective to promote preventions to decrease the loss of life, property, destruction and any kind of disruption caused by natural disasters. Speaking about the importance of the day, Principal, Upasna Modgil said that this day focuses on " International cooperation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risk and disaster losses. Let us move from a culture of reaction to one of prevention and build resilience by reducing loss of life as We can replace material possessions, but we can not replace people"
